Oudtshoorn is situated approximately one hour's drive from Mossel Bay and approximately 55km from George.

Vist the many Ostrich FarmsOudtshoorn is famous for its Ostrich farms and the export of Ostrich feathers and accessories. There are approximately 400 Ostrich Farms situated in the area. Oudtshoorn climate year round is ideal for the breeding of Ostriches - the world's largest bird.

The Cango Caves are definitely one of the world's greatest natural wonders. The caves started forming some 20 million years ago. These caves lie in the Swartberg Mountain range in a limestone belt. The caves were rediscovered in 1780. A herder named Klaas Windvogel found the cave whilst searching for his cattle.The limestone formations and colours are a wonder to the eye. In 1891 the first tour was conducted through the Cango Caves and between 1972 and 1975 Cango 2,3,4 and 5 were discovered.

The Swartberg Mountains are a challenge to hikers. Numerous streams, rivers and waterfalls can be found in the surrounding Kamanassie and Outeniqua Mountains.

The Klein Karoo Arts Festival

The festival runs between March and April and people gather in their thousands to take in the music, arts, dancing, film and cabaret.

Arts festival in OutdshoornThe klein karoo wine route is world famous and the wine farmers produce some of the best wines in the world. The wine route extends from Montagu in the West to De Rust near Meiringspoort in the East. This is a must for wine lovers.

Oudtshoorn also boast a very successful cheetah breeding program and is only one of two in the Southern Hemisphere.
